Description

Low and sleek, the cube planter is the perfect addition to any balcony, deck, or patio. Featuring a rusted patina finish and a modern square design, the cube planter is ideal as a patio accent or as a front entrance focal point. Crafted from thick gauge, corten steel, all Veradek Metallic Series planters are proven to resist weather-related issues such as cracking in both winter and summer months. The planter’s corten steel construction ensures that the structure will only exhibit surface rust for aesthetic purposes. Given this added durability, metallic series planters are ideal in both residential and commercial settings. In addition, all metallic series planters are equipped with styrofoam insulation to help ensure that plants stay healthy in both hot and cold extremes. With a Veradek product, you can rest assured that you are receiving the perfect balance of design, durability, and convenience. It is important to note that all corten steel planters are shipped in their raw steel state, gradually developing a rich rust patina finish over time.

We bought two of these planters medium size at 21″ x 21″ x 22″ high for $178 each. They are very well constructed of medium gauge steel with all the welding well done and cleaned to smooth. The bases are constructed in a manner that has the planter boxes appear to be elevated about an inch above the surface .. a nice look. You could not possibly have these made at this quality of this material for this price, so we consider them a bargain. There is a removable plug in the bottom of the planter. As you can see from the photos we added, one of the planters had rusted quite a bit inside the packaging, which was very good, including styrofoam and plastic. The other planter was fairly virgin steel. In order to rust them equally and end up with our desired finish, we washed them with a hose and then applied Muriatic acid to about 50% of the surface with a rag.Be sure to use rubber gloves and eye protection. After a second touch up application, and when dried, we used fine steel wool to knock down the rust and provide the desired patina.Once achieved, we did two coats of Rust-oleum Universal CLEAR Dead Flat as shown in one photo. This resulted in a non shiny surface and will protect the surface from rusting beyond the patina we wanted. The last few photos show the end result.Highly recommend these planters!

This is exactly what I wanted and expected. And it came so quickly. The only thing that is disappointing is that there was a rectangular sticky tape label on the planter that I removed and when I “rusted” the planter this area did not rust like the rest of the planter. I will have to put that side to the back. The manufacturer should not stick that to the planter.

I love these planters. We purchased two of the large squares, two of the medium rectangles, and four of the small rectangles. The packages arrived well wrapped so that there were no dents or flaws in the product. Be aware that the beautiful patina takes time to develop, so when you open the boxes, do’t be shocked that the planters are not copper. Here at the beach, the color developed in less then 3 weeks, but in dryer climates it may take longer. Running water on them can hasten the process. In order to protect our new concrete pad, we used boot trays and garden trays underneath so that the “rust” doesn’t stain the concrete. The planters have good drain holes. I have been super pleased with the total look and feel that these planters were the finishing touch to our garden project.

Love love love this! Exactly what I wanted and I followed the video instructions to make a spray on formula that rusted the steel in 1/2 a day! It’s perfect!

I was hesitant to order these planters because they were pricey and the reviews weren’t all positive. They are PERFECT.They arrived quickly and were packaged well, and they are substantial and seem like they will last for a long time. They definitely arrive and look gray – they are in raw steel form.Mine are sitting outside in the weather and will be perfectly rusted by the time I use them in the spring. If you need them to be rusted for immediate use, then I highly recommend to follow the guidelines that are shipped with them.We didn’t need to do this, but we have ‘quick rusted’ other items using hydrogen peroxide and vinegar and it rusts raw steel immediately. You can YouTube for better directions and amounts.I would consider buying more of these planters if they are on sale.

First class! I bought two of these for our deck to plant a couple of citrus trees. They are beautiful, sturdy and well made. The contemporary design and material go beautifully with the home improvements we’re making to modernize our place. I’ve only had them out for 2 days, but can already see the rusty patina starting to develop. The planter has one, large hole in the bottom for drainage (and a stopper), so I put mine on little raisers for it’s time on the deck this summer. I’ve kept the stopper for when I bring them in for the winter. They are light enough that this shouldn’t be a chore but sturdy enough that even in our high winds, I can’t imagine they’ll be knocked over.

Extremely well-made planters.Although it takes a while for the exterior to “rust”, from what I can see, it promises to be a very interesting, chic, “industrial” look. These planters are well-thought-out, with a styrofoam lining to protect roots in heat and cold and it is raised to facilitate drainage.I am very pleased.

So far, so good! I am spraying it per Veradeks instructions to speed up the rusting process, and its looking great. Very simple to do, too (but good luck finding hydrogen peroxide right now…). The planter had a beautiful look to it even before rusting. I have yet to plant my bamboo in it, but it is very sturdy – I can tell its going to be a great addition to my front porch. Highly recommend!

One of my favorite purchases with WAYFAIR thus far 🙂 These planters are just my taste and just my style, rustic. I have two of the larger planters in my front walk way area in front of two pillars in my front porch. I love these!
