Description

A fireproof mat serves as a radiant thermal barrier that reflects up to 95% of radiant heat. This ensures that the mat and the surface where it rests won’t absorb heat from the fire pit. In fact, the mat remains at body temperature under the fire pit! This is possible through the aluminizing process used on both sides of the fireproof mat. It works similarly to thermal aluminum insulation panels. But unlike insulation panels, these fireproof mats can withstand very high temperatures – up to 1300°F! There are several things to take note of in order to ensure that the mat functions efficiently. First, ensure that the mat is the right size for your fire pit. The fireproof mat will work best on fire pits with circular bases that are at least an inch smaller than the mat’s 36-inch diameter and all four feet of the fire pit’s stand should rest within the mat’s circumference. Also, the fire pit’s bottom should not rest directly on the mat. The mat is designed to reflect radiant heat, not direct heat.
