When I purchased this (10×20) louvered pergola, the only review here told a tale of misery in the assembly. I was cautiously optimistic that we would have better results. Thankfully, our experience was nothing like that reviewer’s.
It took my husband and me about 6 hours to assemble the pergola start to finish. A couple of things to keep in mind, especially if you’re considering the 10×20
There’s absolutely no way you could assemble this alone. We managed with 2 people, but there were points when a 3rd person would have been ideal.
The assembly isn’t complicated, but it is fairly tedious. You’ll need significant room to work, and you have to have two ladders. We managed with a tall step ladder as our second one, but that only worked because my husband is 6’2”.
We only had 1 screw break, out of the entire project. It wasn’t a problem, though, because they provide two extra louvers.
Speaking of the louvers, the previous reviewer installed them incorrectly. There are not “four center pieces” as indicated in the review. All of the louvers are identical, and you install the two pieces that attach to the cranks first. Then you install all of the rest, so that each one lays on the previous one when they’re closed.
We’ve had this up for several weeks now, and it has rained many, many times. When the louvers are closed, the roof on this pergola is absolutely watertight. It’s incredible.
I cannot recommend this highly enough!

Like it so much, easy installation, nice quality. We added 2 feet post to make more tall and massive and looks nice

This pergola is amazing! I love it, my friends and family all love it! Didn’t decide on getting a pergola til after having the patio re-done in pavers. Didn’t realize til then that you need to put in concrete footings under the patio, before it’s constructed, to secure each pergola leg to. Consulted a contractor friend, and came up with this idea; Screw each foot into a square of plywood or composite, place each foot in a large planter (I used these high planters made of recycled auto tires), and fill each w 100 lbs of crushed stone. I also drilled extra drainage holes in the feet and the planters. That should keep it steady in the strongest winds…and hopefully hurricanes here in New England!

This was the perfect addition to my pool area. It arrived within days and took 2 skilled people 8 hours to install. It had one tiny ding in one of the posts but not bad enough for me to want to pack it up and ship it back. I’m excited to see how it holds up and looking forward to the shade next summer.

Exceptional quality. This is a fairly easy build it took me 6 hours. Power tool definitely a necessity, as there has to be over 100 screws. I am absolutely in love with this Pergola!!!

Look and operates good. Took us 12hrs on a sunny and hot day to finish and we still needed to anchor it down to our concrete patio. The part where you can you three or more people is when erecting the frame as each long side needs to be raised and is then standing and resting unsupported (unless you have 2-3 people supporting each side) until the two horizontal pieces are mounted. After that it’s a bunch of tedious and laborious work preparing and installing the louvers. We had two louvers in which one had bad powder coating and the other had done of it removed probably during their packaging because I removed all parts very carefully. It took us about an hour to inbox and verify parts. The instructions were slightly confusing as our B2 and B3 were either mislabelled or the instructions were incorrect. Also, not all of the reference illustrations were consistent in louver orientation which caused confusion at times but we were able to figure it out.Lastly, it would’ve been good to instruct what drill bit type, size and depth to use for the supplied anchor bolts.I had to Google to figure it out.As a result, it wasn’t common in my area to find a 10mm SDS hammer drill bit to use with the supplied 10mm anchor sleeves.Instead I bought a standard 12” bit and 12” concrete sleeves

We assembled this over the weekend and after a good mix of, rainy, windy, and sunny days, I can say with confidence that this is a great quality product that should last a long time if cared for.
Assembly was tedious (took us about 8.5hrs) but thats really more because we were careful and slow following the instructions. We also stopped to eat in between .
Assemble with 2 ladders and at least 2 people as the instructions say (though a 3rd part-time assistant speeds up the very simple but tedious assembly of 38 louver fins). We also highly recommend starting early so you can work in the daylight.

I decided to buy 2 of these and was able to build 1. The 2nd one will be be built beside the 1st one for the other car. It was time consuming because we live on a slopeour driveway was not leveled on our asphalt. We leveled our footings and epoxy the slabs to asphalt then drilled asphalt screws into the ground and then into the slabscement epoxy each layerscrewed them in. It’s pretty solid and doesn’t move. I didn’t want to cut into our asphalt so the alternative route I did worked out ) The ones into the dirt are actual concrete footings we madeanchored the pergola onto it. I love this pergola as it acts like a carport and makes the house popgave it some life. Lol. In high winds, I just open them slanted and it just blows into the holes.

This is the most amazing product. I have a 12 x 20 old deck. This size is highly unusual so was able to use on my old deck. After great work on the deck this pergola rocks the whole look.

Gorgeous! Such a beautiful pergola, love the ability to openclose for our specific needs!
