A roommate a few years back had us using this compost saver to keep scraps for our worm bin (and using the small indoor plastic bin provided by the city (SF) for city pickup compost items). It was great! Pretty and neat looking enough to keep on the counter-top. The charcoal filter did prevent smells well (worm bins, like most backyard composting solutions, also don’t take the really smelly stuff like meat scraps, which are typically collected by city compost). We also emptied at least once a week.
Pros: nice finish, works with many tastes/styles (modern or trad. kitchen design), prevents smells while venting
Cons: A quick warning — at one point with the similar old composter we had some fruit flies pupating in the filter. Easy to recognize, clean, and replace the filter. Filter solutions might not be good for households with fruit fly histories.

I moved into an apartment last year that is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a compost bin. I wanted to be a composter as my grandparents had been on their little farm back before it was “cool” and “politically correct”. They composted out of necessity. I wanted something that was simple, yet attractive enough to keep on my kitchen counter. The 0.13 cu. ft. Kitchen/Counter-top Composter also has a filter in the cupboard to filter any resulting odor.
It must work great! I’ve never had any odor from the composter.
The handle makes it easy to carry outside and dump in the compost bin, rinses out easily and ready for the next batch!
    And the price is affordable.

Handy and really does block the smell. Going on 3 months without changing the filter and still no smell.

This is just what I needed. We fill it in about 2 -3 days and it goes into the compost tumbler. Odor free with charcoal insert, I use a food grade bag that usually holds fruit from shopping trip to keep the inside clean. Looks good sitting in corner of kitchen.
