What a great additional to my back patio!

We ordered this pergola for our deck.It is BEAUTIFUL!We wanted a white vinyl pergola and this one fit the bill.We hired a local contractor to put it together.He bought the wood that was needed for support when attaching to a deck and had it up in one day — working by himself. I did purchase the canvas to help block the sun.We look forward to having it on the deck for years.

When I initially purchased from Wayfair I was expecting the product to be delivered within a week. However a day later was informed that all packages were shipped and would be arriving a week later except one package that would be arriving two months later. I was really frustrated why it would take this long. I also wondered why they were shipped all together as a unit.
Review on Handy service:
Communication was extremely poor. There was no information on Wayfair or Handy to indicate that I would need to purchase wood or that I would be responsible for getting the posts and concrete poured prior to Handy arriving. Luckily I had the forsight to ask about the wood. For setting the posts, this led to a disaster. The first crew walked off bc they weren’t told they were responsible to set the posts which prompted me to contact Handy who then and only then informed me it wasn’t their responsibility. No information was given to me ahead of time nor was there any information about this documented on their website. For this reason I will not be using them again.
Regarding the product itself:
While I didn’t assemble it myself I did stay outside with the crew that did install it. From what I gather it was easy to assemble. There was one part that was missing but we were still able to proceed with assembly – it wasn’t a key item to the structure. My posts were set in concrete about 2 1/2 feet in the ground. That said it is still a little wobbly. I am not sure if it would be able to withstand heavy winds or a hurricane. To help provide more stability I am planning to pour play sand from the top of each post. One other helpful item to point out is that if you ground isn’t level like mine was and you decide to make the pergola level this will be some amount of the wood exposed. I was originally planning to spray a foam insulation from the bottom of the post to seal it and then pour play sand at the top of the post for stability. Since the pergola has been installed I have also got flagstone installed and the opportunity to do the foam insulation is now gone since the flagstone was designed to all make the ground level (it was previously unlevel).

I wish the posts were a little more beefy; I will be purchasing the extra base moldings available to make them appear more substantial.

The structure is fairly sound however mounting on a concrete patio as I did I would not expect it to survive super high winds or a hurricane. As I live in Florida I added large screw eyes around each side of the pergola with flush anchor bolts in the slab so I can quickly secure the structure with straps in severe weather situations.
After I completed assembly I ran electrical, mounted a ceiling fan and added cafe lights. Also I added the optional trellis and canvas weave kit which I found on another site for much cheaper. Overall very happy with the quality and look forward to years of enjoyment.
